It was a special match experience for me tonight as I was sitting just in front of our football legend Fandi Ahmad. I also met fellow Cheetah's blogger Ernest Lim for the first time as well. The atmosphere was fantastic as the Hougang faithful packed the stands.
The night started perfectly for our Cheetahs with a 4th minute goal from a Duncan Elias freekick. It could have been 2 - 0 within 10 minutes if not for a open goal miss. One of our forwards managed to get the ball out of the Balestier goal keeper's hands but unfortunately could not put it to the back of the net. What a waste!
Our Cheetahs played attractive attacking football throughout the match. Few of them displayed brilliant individual skill and I was entertained throughout the match.
Cheetahs scored the second goal shortly after the break after a series of good passes. It made the crowd wild and even got Fandi off his seat.
Unfortunately, a brace from the Tigers' No 11 leveled the score. Blame it on a lapse of concentration in the last 20 minutes. It would have been 3 points in the bag and a perfect birthday present for Coach Aide if our Cheetahs kept the lead.
Despite the setback, a point gained is better than nothing. Cheetahs played attractive football tonight and hope the team plays that way for the rest of the season and keep the unbeaten run going.
Go Cheetahs!
Always a pleasure to meet a star blogger supporter as yourself Jeff! :) More bright futures for the club and fans. *Shake hands*
